I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know I did! I ate my weight (times two) in goodies. Warning, if you are hungry you probably shouldn't read this blog. I took pics of most of the yummy things we made.
Let's start off with the decorations first though:
This was our thankful tree (thank you Pinterest!)
We put things on it like Friends, Family and catnip
(Severus and Frisco told me that's what they wanted their leaf to say)
Now on to the delicious food. We had a spreadsheet of all the dishes we were making (cause that's what we do, we make organized lists. How else would you do thanksgiving?!?!?!?!?) I think we had 28 different dishes* in the end. Wow.
*dishes count as snacks, appetizers, dinner and dessert
Below is Mallory making pumpkin cheesecake. It might have been 11pm on a school night.
Shilo talking on the phone making Oreo truffles.
This is my second batch of toffee. I have never made it before so I accidentally burnt my first batch. This candy thermometer was a LIFE SAVER!!!
Letting it cool
Adding a layer of chocolate
Then crushed pecans
Then drizzling it with vanilla melting chocolate
Brandon...eating the fruits of our labor. Yes, that is whipped cream with a side of pumpkin pie.
Shilo made this caramel popcorn (read: crack cocaine). I couldn't stop eating it all weekend.
Scones. Because we needed more carbs for breakfast, natch.
Mallory preparing the stuffed mushrooms.
Shilo preparing the turkey
Me, making sure no one gets sick and that the counters are clean. BLEACH!!!!!!
After we put the turkey in the oven, we went for a morning jog. Shilo and I did 6 miles while Mallory and Brandon could only do 2. Amateurs.
I'm a natural.
What do you do after running? Eat until you want to vomit.
These are Mal-Pal's date balls. Gross name, wonderful taste.
The table was set...
Last minute touches
Nick making faces
Stuffed mushrooms (finished product)
The bird is done!!!
Who carves the turkey?? This little lady does!!
Chill lips and her perfect cheesecake. Brandon said at the table "where is the cheesecake? Cause that is the only thing I really want to eat". It was that good.
Mallory's brother, future sister-in-law and our friend Nick all came over for Thanksgiving dinner. It was so nice to be surrounded by such amazing people!
The day after Thanksgiving we had craft day. My mother-in-law does it in Vegas but since I don't live out there I decided to start the tradition no matter where I was. So I bought these frames for the girls to decorate for Christmas.
NO BOYS ALLOWED!!
Our finished products. It's funny how they all reflected our personality so well!
Shilo, me, Mallory and Irina (Mallory's future sister-in-law)
Ok, so remember when I shared a terribly embarrassing picture with you last year because I love you (seen HERE)? Well I have another. Yes, this is my shoveling food into my mouth. You are welcome.
Guys, this picture below was THE DAY AFTER! And we still had a feast!
One of the best parts of the weekend is that we took our Christmas card pictures. What's that? You want to see them? Ha! no way!!
ok
ok
I will give you a tid bit:
We got our pictures taken by this hot Italian.
That's it! You will have to wait to see the rest!
Peace, love and teasers :)
Simply marvelous darling!
ReplyDeleteOhmigosh, SO many things I love about this! 1. Spreadsheets and lists. 2. Cleaning with bleach. 3. All you beautiful people (Ashley, I'm in love with your Thanksgiving look! Everything about it). Also, whipped cream with a side of pumpkin pie is the only way to go.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had an amazing holiday :)
Oh my heavens, this was amazing! It all looks so good and I'm dying for some of your toffee and Mal's cheesecake. I love the craft day idea. Your frames were all so cute!!! Mal just sent us a spreadsheet of meals for Christmas break...now I know where that came from. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. You look great as a blonde!
